Golazo

The primary goal of Golazo Events is to get as many people as possible moving and keep them active. We want to challenge them to live their best lives and inspire people to do this together with others.

As an organizer of large-scale events, we feel responsible for the impact our events have on the environment.. Together with our stakeholders, we are looking at areas in which we can still make progress.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

MOBILITY

  • We advise participants and spectators to travel by public transport or bicycle as much as possible. Many of our events are in the centre of cities, which are very easy to reach by train, tram or bus.
  • We encourage the use of carpooling. This limits the number of cars on the road and in parking garages.
  • The logistical operation of the event is carefully planned, so that only the necessary travel movements take place. In addition, the use of electric vehicles is being considered where necessary.

(RE)USE PRODUCTS

  • Golazo Events organizes events all year round, for which often the same kind of products and/or materials are needed. These materials for our events are stored in our warehouse so that they can be reused for other events.
  • We use sustainable materials as much as possible.
  • The products present will be used/finished as much as possible before new products are purchased. If there are any (food) products left after the event, they will be donated to the Food Bank.
  • We try to minimize energy consumption, single-use plastics and other waste as much as possible.
  • Only environmentally friendly, biodegradable cleaning products are used in the toilets.
  • The paper participant booklet has been replaced by a clear and well-organized website. In addition, paper flyers may not be distributed.
  • The arches, refreshment stations and catering points will be set up in places where most permanent power and water points can be used.
  • If lighting is required, LED lighting is used as much as possible.

WASTE

  • We try to prevent waste as much as possible and process it in the most sustainable way possible.
  • We ensure controlled waste collection and separation.
  • The start and finish area is waste-free! This means that all the 'waste' that is released by visitors and participants is collected in the many available containers. These containers are collected and sorted via the existing post-separation rules.
  • Special attention is paid to clothing that participants take off and leave behind just before the start. Any clothing left behind is collected and recycled.
  • Attention is also paid to using drinking cups on the course and at the refreshment stations along the way in the most sustainable way possible.

SOCIAL

  • The mission of Golazo Events is to get as many people as possible moving, in order to contribute to a healthy society. We want everyone to be able to participate in our sports events: runners, cyclists or walkers. For young and old, top and recreational sports and for people with a disability. In this way, we try to add components to our events so that as many people as possible can participate.
  • During our events, we work together with many volunteers. We find it important that as many people feel involved in the event and thus contribute to our objective. For example, we work together with many parties who come to help with our events: think of local sports clubs, training courses or scouting clubs.
  • Golazo Events is socially involved and supports several national charities. Each event is linked to a charity, whereby a financial contribution goes to the charity of that event. Think of KWF, the MS Fonds, Sophia Children's Hospital.
